Born in 1979, Masaaki Iwasa trained for eight years in Bizen and Shigaraki before establishing his own studio in Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture. The charm of Iwasa’s Bizen pottery lies in its timeless appearance, as if it has existed for centuries. The natural tones and rough textures of his unglazed ceramics embodies a sense of Zen and melancholic elegance.
