Crafted by Masahiro Sakakura, this tea bowl embodies the quiet elegance of Hagi ware. The bowl’s surface is adorned with a white slip known as Daido-tsuchi, a traditional material used for generations in the Sakakura Shinbei Kiln, imbuing the piece with a sense of heritage and continuity.

Hagi ware is renowned for its transformative beauty over time. As the bowl is used, subtle color changes emerge due to the porous clay, which allows moisture to seep through the fine cracks. This phenomenon, known as “the seven transformations of Hagi,” is cherished by tea masters.

Its inviting warmth and balanced form make it a pleasure to hold, while the delicate cracks and soft, muted tones evoke a quiet, contemplative beauty. As the bowl matures with use, it reveals its story gradually, each transformation adding depth and character, offering a serene and intimate experience for the user.
