Akatsuki Glaze
The word means “Dawn”, and this glaze depicts the golden hour atmosphere with the softly glistening sunlight. It is usually applied to red clay with high iron content, with the carbonized firing that creates this orange lustre.

Artist: Eijiro Tokunaga

Ceramic artist who trained in Kyoto and inherited the ‘Tokko kiln’ in Arita, Saga Prefecture. His specialty is carbonized firing and he pursues his own expression using various clay and glazes.
