The "yui-oke," meaning "bound tub," was an integral part of daily life for the Edo people, serving as a reliable vessel for carrying and storing food. This contemporary wine cooler beautifully captures the essence of Edo craftsmanship, showcasing a design that pays homage to tradition. Meticulously handcrafted using a 300-year-old Sawara cypress sourced from Kiso, Nagano Prefecture, it possesses exceptional water resistance, durability, and natural antibacterial properties. Skilled artisan, also the 4th generation of Okeei, Eifu Kawamata expertly employs a nickel silver hoop to seamlessly bind the precisely cut side plates. When held, the tub surprises with its lightness, while the gentle scent of cypress tantalizes the senses.     In 1887, Okeei was founded by Shinemon Kawamata, an artisan of yui-oke in Fukugawa, Tokyo, a town which flourished as a port handling the distribution of lumber. Wooden tubs and rice keepers made by Shinemon had a good reputation as they were well made. Since then, Okeei has faithfully maintained the traditional techniques being the only remaining yui-oke workshop in Tokyo.

    To use this product safely and comfortably, please follow the instructions below:

    - Please do not leave it wet for a long period of time.
    - Do not use boiling hot water, dishwasher, or in microwave. - Please stop using if there is significant deterioration.
    - Avoid direct sunlight and excessive humidity.
    - Wrap it in paper and store it in a box.
    - If the wood shrinks significantly due to excessive dryness or aging, it is a good idea to sprinkle lukewarm water on it to keep it moist.

    Upon receiving your order, please allow us 1-3 business days to prepare the shipment. Your order should arrive within 3-5 business days.

    2. Local Shipping (Express)

    To secure delivery on next day, please place your order before 2pm and choose express shipping. For orders made by 4pm between Monday to Friday, we will schedule delivery on the next day. For orders made on Sundays and Public Holidays, the earliest delivery will be on the following business day.
